Animal farm thing

The animals ask a number of questions about the possibility of a rebellion. What are these questions and how do you think they connect to the kind of questions people would ask in the real world about the possibility of a revolution?

In the novel, animal farm, the author, George Orwell makes the charactes discusses the posibility of a rebellion. The animals ask questions like “why should we care what happens after we are dead?” “If this rebellion happens is to happen anyway, what difference does it make whether we work for it or not?” “ will there be sugar after the rebellion” “and shall I still be able to wear ribbons in my mane?” all of these questions are relivant in the real world if a rebellion was to take place.

“Why should we care what happens to us after we are dead?” is a selfish question that many lazy people would ask when a hard task approaches. It is a difficult question to counteract if the person asking is particulary self centered. The whole point of a rebellion is to make life better for future generations. it is probably the most important question.

"if this rebellion happens is to happen anyway, what difference does it make whether we work for it or not?" this is yet another selfish question. i think people these days would ask this question, just as it is. The saying "sooner rather than later" comes into play. if they act now it will happen sooner if they don not perhaps later.

“ will there be sugar after the rebellion” “and shall I still be able to wear ribbons in my mane?” asks the horse. These items represent things that people would have to give up if they go through with the rebellion. In modern day many people would ask this question, what would they have to give up for this revoulution? This is probably the biggest way revolutions lose participants, because they do not want to sacrifice things in their lives.

All of the quotes in Animal Farm represent common questions in rebellion today even though it was written ages ago.

A very detailed explanation of the relevance of these questions to real life revolutions. I think your identification of the ribbons and suger as things people fear they will have to give up is particularly insightful. How do you think the pigs (or indeed real revolutionaries) went about answering these questions?
